Is it possible to become fluent in Spanish by living in a Spanish speaking neighborhood?

since I can’t afford to go to a Spanish speaking country, could I move into a Spanish speaking neighborhood and become fluent in it? there are a lot of neighborhood around where I live where there are only Spanish speakers. so everything is in Spanish pretty much.
do you think that if I moved to one of those neighborhoods I could become fluent in Spanish? or at least close to fluency?

if you’re actively learning on your own, with books or a computer program or tutor or whatever, then living in a Spanish speaking neighborhood would definitely benefit you. You could practice 24/7. But you won’t just pick it up from hearing it. Make sure you speak to people in Spanish, even if you feel silly or think you’re saying things wrong, because 99% of the time they will help you out and think it’s cool that you’re trying.

Do you think that the Spanish language be reinstated as an official language in the Philippines?

I think that should be done. It would be nice if Filipinos knew three languages. Tagalog, English and Spanish.
Mabuti yan, diba?
Didn’t they say that the president is going to make a compulsory subject at school?

why would a language be deemed official if only a few percentage knows about it. plus, with practicality in mind, we don’t have enough teachers to teach ENGLISH let alone spanish. heck, we don’t even have enough teachers, period.

Do you know a good spanish – english online medical dictionary?

I am translating a medical text and do not have access to a Spanish-English medical dictionary. I cannot go to a library to look at one as I live in South Korea so I need to do it online.
