español and …
español and castellano are the exact same thing. The terminology is used for political purposes. One could talk about the Spanish languages which include Castellano, Catalan, Asturian, Galicia, Basque and so forth. Castellano is used when comparing it to Spain’s other languages. However, when comparing castellano to foreign languages then Castellano becomes Español. Note that Español o castellano like all languages, has varieties called dialects (Spanish Spanish, Mexican Spanish and so on)

El Español no …
El Español no Castellano NO EXISTE. No está mal referirse al idioma como Español pero es más correcto decir Castellano. Dentro del Castellano hay formas dialectales y se cuentan ya por más de 6.000 distribuidos tanto dentro de España como fuera (México, Uruguay, Argentina… etc) Deberías haber dicho, “El Español que se habla en Latinoamérica” y dentro de ese ámbito especificar el país.
