Most countries teach second languages in their schools. That language has usually been English, making it a sort of “universal language.” In our country, second languages are limited to a smattering of high schools and in college courses, but many people believe our students should be taught another language as a part of the school curriculum even as early as the elementary grades. However, no one is really sure as to which language would be most helpful to our citizens or which one might help out in future foreign relations.
