This package contains four stories on 2 CDs and 2 books: Breakfast, At Night, At School, and My Family. Each book contains pictures of familiar items (eyes, mother, table) labeled in Spanish and English. The books also include a few simple sentences using these items.

The CDs follow the books closely, but also include a few more complicated Spanish sentences. At first, I was a bit confused about these sentences, but I think the point of them is to just get a feel for the sound of the language. Before long, I was able to figure out what they mean in English. Except for the sentences, the CDs allow time and encourage kids (and parents) to repeat the Spanish words. Each CD also includes four wonderful little Spanish songs.

My child is too young (2 years old) to follow along with the book while the CD is playing, so we use the book at home and listen to the CD while we drive around town. They reinforce each other, so it seems to work fine this way.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants to teach her child (and herself) a bit of basic Spanish. Dora’s voice is somewhat annoying, but, as with most annoying kid products, I got used to it.
