Both parties have “pandered” to illegals in different ways. The Republicans do it to continue an unlimited supply of cheap labor to keep corporate donors happy. Democrats do it because they sell entitlement programs. Thanks to “sanctuary city” policies, illegals can enjoy those entitlement programs. I find it to be contradictory that Democrats support such policies when it obviously hurts the American poor. But they see it as future constituents at the expense of the poor (Machiavellian?).

I, too, was linked via reference to Kaine’s “proficient” Spanish. His Spanish seems okay but I wouldn’t call it proficient. Though he gets points for working with folks in Honduras when he did — that would involve serious courage and serious perspective. Impressive. PCSFLA, is that really the argument you are trying to put in everybody’s mind? No, they are not trying to get illegal votes. He is showing he can speak the language 12% of the US population speaks @home. Do your census research. That’s 12% (and rising) of US citizens that speak Spanish @home. Gov. Kaine didn’t learn Spanish just to make Spanish speaking people like him. Yes, it is a political tool (and a strong one), but it also shows a bit of respect to those who prefer another language.
